The 15th Annual Conference of SOCIETY OF PHARMACOVIGILANCE (INDIA)
 &
International Colloquium on Patient Safety
SoPICon2015
Oct 31 – Nov 02, 2015:: Kolkata

Dear Colleagues,
Medicines are intended to relieve human suffering. Therefore patients and doctors as well find it offensive that they cause disease. Adverse drug reaction (ADR) reporting and monitoring system is important to collecting, collating and analyzing data as a means of establishing new knowledge and generating early signals of possible drug complications. The ultimate purpose is to prevent or minimize risks associated with use of medicines. Pharmacovigilance refers to all such activities.

We are happy to inform you that this year‟s (2015) Annual National Conference of the Society of Pharmacovigilance, India & International Colloquium on Patient Safety - SoPICon2015 - will be held in Kolkata during October 31 – November 02, 2015. The theme of the Conference is "Using Medicines? …. Get Informed - Stay Alert - Be Safe".

In organizing a prestigious event of this stature, we are fortunate to have the logistic and intellectual support committed by The Society of Tropical Medicine & Infectious Diseases in India, and B M Birla Heart Research Centre, Kolkata. We look forward their active collaboration in this venture.

The Conference will be attended by selected expert clinicians, pharmacologists, clinical pharmacists, industry representatives and other stakeholders of pharmacovigilance not only from different parts of the country but also from abroad. However, to keep the quality of the scientific deliberations high we would not prefer a huge crowd – perhaps not more than 250.

We consider it a great pleasure and privilege to hold this educational bonanza – SoPICon2015 in Kolkata. As the Organising Secretary of SoPICon2015 I extend our cordial invitation to YOU ALL to Kolkata, the cultural capital of India and one of the friendliest cities in the world. A city of amazing depth and contrast, Kolkata possesses some of the world's finest specimens of British imperial architecture and has the highest concentration of artists, poets and writers around the world. Visitors find the city enchanting in its beauty, whose citizens hold the arts in higher esteem over economics. This is a city of art galleries, music festivals, theatres, cinema and book fairs.

A warm reception awaits you and I eagerly look forward to welcoming you in the event. I promise you an academically beneficial and socially enriching experience during your stay with us. I am sure you would thoroughly enjoy the scientific, cultural and social programs during SoPICon2015.

With best regards,
Dr. Santanu K Tripathi
Organising Secretary
